Axel Ingi;
a composer,
a lyricist
and a writer.

Axel Ingi studied classical piano from the age of five in his home town of Akureyri, in the north of Iceland. During his junior college years he added the double bass as a secondary instrument. He finished his BA in musical composition in 2016 from the Iceland Academy of Arts and in 2020 he got his masters degree in musical composition for film and theatre from the same school.

Axel has since written music for theatrical productions and cinema. He has worked for both major theatres in Reykjavik: The Reykjavik City Theatre and the National Theatre of Iceland on a variety of shows. He has also worked with many independant theatre groups in Iceland.

Axel is a huge fan of opera and musicals. It is the larger than life, explicit display of raw emotions through repetitions and variatons on motifs that has influenced his music composition and writing.

There is a time to be subtle and there is a time to bombard the audience with emotions and images. Making good music is just finding the balance.
